Messiah Artists
Due to the snowstorm of December 19, the original date of Boheme Opera’s special staging of Handel’s Messiah, the following artists will be performing on the rescheduled date of Saturday, January 2:

Soprano Sungji Kim
A ‘silvery voiced’ singer (Opera Magazine), soprano Sungji Kim is quickly gaining worldwide recognition as a singer equally adept in opera, recital, concert and contemporary music. With numerous performances in Japan, Korea, Germany, Canada and throughout the United States, she is a much sought after artist with a repertoire ranging from Renaissance and Early Music, to contemporary pieces written specifically for her unique musical gifts. She made her operatic stage debut in the role of Pamina in Die Zauberflote at the Seoul Art Center while pursuing her bachelor degree. She has sung numerous roles since, including Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore, Gilda in Rigoletto, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia, Nannetta in Falstaff, Clorinda in La Cenerentola and Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, among others. A native of Busan, South Korea, Ms. Kim is busy on the oratorio concert stage, and is an active contemporary singer, having been featured in premiere performances with the Telesis Music Ensemble, Sound Clock Ensemble and at the Universities of Pennsylvania, New York, Princeton (sponsored by Novel Laureate Toni Morrison), at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Manhattan School of Music.

Mezzo Susan Rheingans
Susan Rheingans recently appeared as Giulietta in Les Contes de Hoffmann, Alice Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff, the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, and has performed the soprano solos in the Requiems of Mozart, Faure and Rutter. These roles are a new addition to her extensive mezzo-soprano operatic and concert repertoire. She performed the role of Flora Bervoix in La Traviata with Boheme Opera New Jersey in 2007. Her operatic credits include performances with the Los Angeles Music Center Opera, Bel Canto Opera of Los Angeles, New York Opera Forum, Philadelphia Concert Opera, and most recently, Delaware Valley Opera Company. She has appeared as soloist on national and international tours with the renowned Roger Wagner Chorale, and has recorded and been featured in televised performances with the group. Ms. Rheingans has also performed as soloist with symphony orchestras and choral organizations on both East and West Coasts, and maintains a private voice studio.
Tenor David Gordon
David Gordon has recently sung the roles of Tony (Bolcom’s A View from the Bridge), the Male Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia), Lysander (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Herodes (Salome), Alfredo (La Traviata), Lennie (Of Mice and Men), Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In February and March, David will sing the role of Pedrillo in Mozart’s Die Entfuhrund aus dem Serail with Concert Opera Philadelphia. David made his New York City Opera debut in 2005, where he performed the role of Don Luigino in Rossini’s Il viaggio a reims and covered the Imperatore in Turandot and the Duke of Dunstable in Patience by Gilbert & Sullivan. David has also performed with the Ensemble du Monde Tanzmeister, Kalistos Orchestra of Boston, and Opera Company of Brooklyn, as well as with Boheme Opera New Jersey as Elder Hayes in Floyd’s Susannah and as Pong in Turandot.
Bass-Baritone Grant Mech
Grant Mech holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and a Master of Music degree in voice performance and pedagogy from Westminster Choir College, where he studied voice with Margaret Cusack. In September 2008, he debuted with Capital Opera Harrisburg, singing Colas in Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne. Recent appearances include Publio in La Clemenza di Tito with dell-Arte Opera Ensemble and L’imperial Commissario in Madama Butterfly with Boheme Opera NJ. In June 2009, Grant made his debut with New Rochelle Opera singing Marquis d’Obigny in La Traviata. During the summer of 2009, Grant appeared in concerts with the Franco American Vocal Academy and sang Agamemnon in Offenbach’s La Belle Helene with Opera du Perigord in France. He recently performed a series of recitals in New Jersey with soprano Diana Petras and pianist Akiko Hosaki entitled “An Evening of American Song.” Grant is the Choral Director at Pond Road Middle School in Robbinsville, NJ.
